Luke Franklin Obituary


Luke A. Franklin VIRGINIA BEACH - Luke Andrew Franklin, 22, passed away Sept. 15, 2008, unexpectedly. Luke was born in Virginia Beach, Nov. 19, 1985, the son of Patrick N. Franklin Sr. and Louise A. Franklin of Virginia Beach. He attended school at Landstown; he loved playing the violin including the school orchestra. He served in the U.S. Army, where he earned his marksman medal. Luke was a video game master; he loved music, fishing and spending time with his family. He loved to make people smile and laugh. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Melissa Anne and his daughter, Isabella Marie; brothers, Patrick N. Franklin Jr. and his wife Sarah and Isaac J. Franklin; sister, Anna L. Franklin, all of Virginia Beach; maternal grandparents, Russell and Louise Simpson Jr. of Knotts Island, Va.; paternal grandmother, Lillian Mae King of Virginia Beach; uncles, Rex Franklin and his wife Carol of Maryland, Russell Edward Simpson IV of Knotts Island and Virginia Beach; aunt, Jane Clarke and her husband Ray of Elizabeth City, N.C.; several beloved cousins and his close friends, David Hill and Mark Strader; his mother and father-in-law. George and Sandra Valyo of Pennsylvania; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and their families. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Knotts Island Cemetery. The Rev. Frank Jennings and the Rev. David Cunningham will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach. The parents of Luke Franklin will be expecting friends at their home in Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to his daughter Isabella c/o Luke's mother Louise Franklin. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.altmeyer.com.

We are deeply saddened to hear of your loss. We knew Luke through our daughters Darci and Nikki and also through Dianna. Luke was a wonderful guy and one that we watched turn into a terrific man.
