Roger White Obituary


Roger W. White VIRGINIA BEACH - Roger Wilson White departed this life Aug. 30, 2008, at his home. Born April 19, 1930, in Erie, Pa., he is survived by his wife Gloria; two daughters, Laura White Bondurant and her husband Elliott of West Point, Va., and Elaine White Smetts and her husband Thomas of Orange, Va.; son, Douglas White of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren, Taylor and Cabell Bondurant, Jillian and Melissa Smetts, and Devin, Madison and Marshall White; a brother, Paul White and his wife Amy of New York; sister-in-law, Loretta White of Florida; and eight nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Vina and Maurice White; and brother, Laurence. He graduated from Lexington High School. His passion for photography led him to study at Rochester Institute of Technology. He was an army photographer with the Signal Corps, 40th Infantry Division, serving in Korea. He graduated from Hobart College and retired from Xerox Corp. A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 5181 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, at 2 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Norfolk Botanical Garden, 6700 Azalea Garden Road, Norfolk, VA 23518 or the Kempsville Rescue Squad.
