Seth Moore Obituary


Seth T. Moore VIRGINIA BEACH - Seth Thomas "Tom T" Moore passed away July 8, 2008, while in the Villages Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Fla. Born in West Frankfort, Ill., Tom was a longtime resident of the Tidewater area after coming to Norfolk as a young man in the Navy. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillie M. (Benton) Moore; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janie and Daniel Hunter of The Villages, Fla., Sharon and Fred Becker of Virginia Beach and Gayle and Andy Cohen of Roanoke; four grandsons and daughters-in-law, Bret Becker, Rodney and Kelly Becker, Daniel Jr. and Tabatha Hunter, Ryan and Jesse Cohen; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Davis of Aurora, Ill.; and many nephews and nieces. Tom was a veteran of World War II, serving as a member of the flight crew aboard the USS Bogue CVE-9, and during the Korean conflict as a member of Patrol Squadron VP 861/18 in Jacksonville, Fla. Tom retired after 38 years of service to the Department of Defense, Naval Air Rework Facility at Norfolk Naval Air Station. Tom was a lifetime member of VFW Post 5764. Tom acquired the nickname "Tom T" while a member of the Tidewater Ramblers Chapter 147 of HRRVC. He loved to travel and was known in Holiday Rambler RV circles around the country. A memorial service will be held at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, on Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach, Thursday at 3 p.m. Family visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. followed by the service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Seth T. Moore to Hospice of Lake Sumter, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162.
