Patricia Drumwright Obituary


Patricia B. Drumwright NEWPORT NEWS - Patricia Barnette "Trish" Drumwright, 60, passed away Sept. 23, 2008, after a sudden illness. Known as Ms. Tricia to her children at Grace United Methodist Church where she served as a pre-school teacher for 20 years, she was a 1966 graduate of Norview High School, Norfolk, and a graduate of Keys Business College. Trish was married 33 years to Richard Allan Drumwright, Director of Planning and Development, Williamsburg Area Regional Transit Authority. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Kent Drumwright and his wife Jackie and Dean Drumwright; sister, Norma and her husband Bill; brother, Larry Barnette and his wife Thelma; a special cousin, Monte Barnette; several nieces and nephews. Patricia was predeceased by parents, Ernest and Agnes Barnette, formerly of Buxton, N.C. Trish is survived by father and mother-in-law, George and Eunice Drumwright; brothers-in-law, George T. Drumwright Jr., wife Susan of Henrico County, Virginia, and Barry L. Drumwright and wife Kathy of Suffolk and their children. Trish is also survived by three wonderful dogs, KD, Buster and Gizzmo. In addition to her passion for children, Trish always loved to be with her longtime girlfriends, especially Nancy. A celebration memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Grace Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Helen Casey-Rutland officiating. The family will be receiving friends at 10 a.m. in the chapel at Grace United Methodist Church and a reception will follow the memorial service at the church. Trish touched the hearts of many and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Weekday Educational Programs at Grace United Methodist Church, 1209 Country Club Drive, Newport News, VA 23606. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
