Livingston Hansbrough Obituary


Livingston Hansbrough VIRGINIA BEACH - Livingston Chancellor "Pete" Hansbrough, formerly of Virginia Beach, died Sept. 23, 2008, in Henrico County, Virginia. He was 95. He was born in 1913 in Salem, Va., the son of the late Livingston Chancellor Hansbrough Sr., and the late Louise Logan Hansbrough Apperson. He attended Roanoke College where he was a Sigma Chi. As a young man, he worked for several New Deal programs, surveying for the TVA and working with the CCC. He worked for many years as a general manager and operations manager for Carolina Coach Company bus line in Norfolk, Richmond and Raleigh, N.C. He was also a member of the Rotary Club. He was the widower of Alfreda Shields Hansbrough who died in 1999. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by a brother, Charles Apperson of Bowling Green, Va.; two daughters, Cynthia Hansbrough Kight and Carrington Hansbrough OBrion, both of Richmond; two sons-in-law, four grandsons, three grandaughters-in-law and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Woody Parham Chapel, 1771 Parham Road, Richmond. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Va. Donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy, 490 Westfield Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901. Notes to the family may be left at www.mem.com.
