Annie Whitehurst Obituary


Annie E. Whitehurst NORFOLK - God extended His arms on Sept. 24, 2008, hand-picked a beautiful rose from His garden and called Annie Elizabeth Whitehurst to eternal rest at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born March 10, 1921, in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Annie Wilson. She was predeceased by her husband, Ulysses Whitehurst and three sisters, Dorothy Miller, Clarice Curtis and Elmira Shackleford and three brothers, Walter, Willie and Ollie Wilson. Annie was educated in the Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She spent most of her adult life in New York where she retired from the Darlington Company as a key puncher. She was a member of St. Paul CME Church and the Forever Young Through Faith and Fun Senior Citizen Ministry. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted brother, James A. Wilson; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held at noon Tuesday in St. Paul CME Church, 310 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Interment will be at Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Family and friends will assemble at 739 Willow Brook Road, Chesapeake, one hour prior to service for procession to the church. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Granby St. Chapel, is in charge. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
