Arlyne Dowey Obituary


Arlyne E. Dowey VIRGINIA BEACH - Arlyne Elizabeth Dowey, 89, of Atlantic Shores, passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2008. Mrs. Dowey was retired from Wachovia Bank and a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church. She was also a member of the Boston Doll Club of America, Norfolk Doll Club and the founder of the Precious Memories Doll Club of Virginia Beach. She was the widow of William Bastow and is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Thomas E. Dowey; two daughters, Donna E. Murphy and husband Dan of Virginia Beach, and Pamela Wilson and husband David of Oxford, Mass.; a son, Bryan D. Bastow and wife Helen of Naples, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Darra Sansom, Daneen Doughtie, Dreann Holt, Kimberly Russo, Kelley Mac Gregor, Rebecca Donahue, Bradley Bastow, Bonnie Leon; 17 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandson; and stepchildren, Darlene Dowey of Connecticut, Ellen Dowey of Waltham, Mass., and Thomas F. Dowey of Sudbury, Mass. A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, where the family will receive friends one hour prior. Mrs. Dowey will be sent to Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home in Hudson, Mass., for services and burial on Friday. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Francis Episcopal Church.
