Charles Greene Obituary

Charles D. Greene VIRGINIA BEACH - Charles "David" Greene, 64, died after a long valiant battle with heart disease Sept. 21, 2008, at the Sentara Heart Hospital. He was born in Houston, Texas, Sept. 17, 1944, and was the son of the late Charles A. Greene and Ruth Greene. He served for many years in the U.S. Marines, and was a true patriot, volunteering for three tours of combat service in Vietnam. Once home he started a family, and was a successful restaurant manager for most of his life, earning numerous awards for his outstanding excellence in the food industry. He was an avid fisherman and loved nature. He was also an amazing cook, a loyal friend and a strong loving father. Survivors include his brother, James Greene and wife Dee Greene; two sons, Brian Greene and wife Tanya and Sean Greene; a grandchild, Tessa; and a host of other relatives, including a niece and nephew, as well as a wealth of caring friends. A gathering of close friends and family will be held at the home of a relative today at 4 p.m. in celebration of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the American Heart Association.

I was so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He was, by any measure, a great man. He always had a story, a joke, advice or a helping hand to everyone he came into contact. I will always remember the days we spent on the lake, catching fish, laughing and listening to this wise man's take on life. Dave meant more to me than I ever told him and I will sorely miss him. God bless you, Dave. Save a few lunkers for me...we will meet again.
