Mary Kilmurray Obituary

Mary Martha Kilmurray VIRGINIA BEACH - Mary "Martha" Kilmurray, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sept. 23, 2008. She was born Aug. 26, 1918, in Cumberland, Md. She worked a number of odd jobs before taking on fulltime homemaker duties. As a member of Bayside Christian Church, she served on many boards and committees (including handling "Mail for the Military" during the holidays), she sang in the choir, and served as a deaconess, ultimately becoming a chairperson. Martha loved and lived for Jesus. She loved her family, church, and helping people in need. She served as a coordinator of Meals on Wheels volunteering her services for more than 25 years. She was a member of Sentara Bayside Hospital Auxiliary and the Fleet Reserve Unit 60. She wanted to thank all who donated dolls and stuffed animals to her over 25 years allowing her to refurbish them for less fortunate/abused children (450 - 650 each Christmas!) She always had time to help anyone. Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Kilmurray (1999) and her daughter, Mary Ann Kilmurray (1976). Survivors include her sister, Jean Fradiska of Cumberland, Md.; daughter, Nancy S. Hanna and her husband Barry of Franklin, N.C.; son, Daniel J. Kilmurray and his wife Tammy of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A private service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Bayside Christian Church, 2224 Greenwell Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455 or Alzheimer's Disease Research.
