William Satterfield Obituary


William M. Satterfield Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - William Meade Satterfield Jr., 87, passed away Sept. 27, 2008, in his home. A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late Louise and William M. Satterfield Sr. He was a retired agent from Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. and part owner of Satterfield Brothers Furniture. Bill enjoyed the outdoors with a passion for hunting and surf fishing, making many trips to Hatteras. He also enjoyed gardening, golf and a good game of croquet. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Winifred W. "Winnie" Satterfield; a daughter, Linda S. McKee and husband Rockie; a son, Mark A. Satterfield; and sister, Ann Gambill, all of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, William M. Satterfield III and a brother, Nash Satterfield. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Community United Methodist Church, 1072 Old Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. Dear Winnie, Linda and Mark,

May your hearts be filled with loving memories of Bill. I know that you will miss him. Hold these memories close and know that they will live in your heart forever.

Bill was a very special man, and I shall miss him as well.
