Daniel Short Obituary
Daniel J. Short Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Daniel J. Short Jr., 17, of King Arthur Drive, passed away Sept. 28, 2008. Born in Syosset, N.Y., he was a student at Central Academy High School. He enjoyed Kempsville Pony Baseball. Daniel is survived by his parents, Dan and Sally Short of Virginia Beach; sister, Sarah Short of Virginia Beach; paternal grandparents, James and Joanne Short of Long Island, N.Y.; maternal grandparents, Reed and Sally Thomas of Long Island; and his aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Church of the Ascension, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Father James Parke. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Danny.
you were one of the first people to come up and greet me when i moved to kempsville in eight grade. i couldnt believe someone was already trying to be friend with me. we had some great times in eight grade. im going to miss going down the hallways a week from our birthday and say there is so many days till our birthday. you were very kind and always had to put a smile on someones face even if you werent friends with them. you could get along with anyone. everyone is going to miss you dearly and i just dont know how to express in words how i feel right now. this is hard writing because i know one day we will meet again in heaven.our memories will never fade and i will never forget the good times we had to together going to school together and just hanging out. you coming to ashlees house just to see the baby and make sure we were doing okay.
im so sorry this had to happen si soon but god needed for what reason we may never know but we just know it was your time. im going to miss you dearly and you will never be forgotten in my heart. you have visited me in many dreams its like your trying to tell me something but im not sure what it is. rest in peace Daniel Joseph Short.

Danny was one of my good friends since i could remember prolly since third grade playin baseball at kpb.danny was always kind hearted and good sprited. that smile he had made everyone love him that much more. danny was the kid who was always down for fun and living life. he was like a real brother to me. Mr. and Mrs. Short and Sarah and family I am here for you guys i know it must be hard for you guys but I know that Danny is now in a better place watching over all of us and being our guardian angels. I miss you Danny. I can't believe that this is real. No one thinks about death until it hits home and it really hit us. So many people were there for you last night baby and it was like no one cared who it was but they cried in their arms. We were all like one big family last night and you brought all of us together. Thank you for all of your smiles, your laughs, and your presence. I will never be able to forget you Danny and I will always love you.

the world lost a good kid. danny was one of the funniest, realest kids you will ever meet. i'm glad that i met him and my condolences go out to his family and all of our friends. he lives on through all of us.

I didn't really know danny that well. I had a couple of classes with him in 06. From what i saw, he was a really funny guy. I just want your family to know that you are in my prayers. Danny is one of the 3 teens that ive lost this month to motor vehicle accidents. I can only imagine what your family is going through. Danny will never be forgotten.

There are no words to say how deeply saddened we are or how profoundly sorry we are for Danny and your family. You've been in our thoughts and prayers since we got the news and will continue to be in them for a very long time. You've focused your lives around your children, loving them with everything you have. In spite of everything, Danny had to know how much he was loved and that seems like a pretty wonderful gift to have given him. He may have been resisting it at this moment in his life, but without question, he had to have known how deep it was for him. We can't even begin to imagine the depth of your sorrow but will continue to pray each day that you will one day be able to find some peace. danny and my brothers and i and the whole avalon woods neighborhood all grew up together and he was one to make everyone laugh even if it was at his expense. We argued alot but we always had an understanding for each other. im gunna miss you danny!!!
