Andrew Gilmer Obituary


Andrew H. Gilmer VIRGINIA BEACH - Andrew H. "Drew" Gilmer of Virginia Beach died Sept. 28, 2008. He was born in Roanoke, Va., Feb. 28, 1979. Drew graduated from First Colonial High School in 1997. He attended James Madison University and graduated from Old Dominion University in 2005. Drew was an avid soccer player and fisherman. He played high school and select soccer and fished year round in the Chesapeake Bay. He worked for Bank of America after graduation from ODU in the financial services division. Drew later moved to the premier banking and investments area where he was an Assistant Vice President Client Manager. Drew is survived by his parents, Brenda (Ikie) and Perry Gilmer of Virginia Beach; his brother, Thad and Thad's wife, Courtney, and their two daughters, Parker and Caroline, all of whom live in Midlothian, Va. Drew was predeceased by his grandparents, Guy and Betty Gilmer and Eddie and Mary Jane Duke. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at The Spring Branch Community Church in Virginia Beach and will be officiated by the Rev. Rick Eschenburg. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations in Drew's name be made to the Spring Branch Youth Ministry Scholarship Fund, 1500 Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
