Jemima Bristow Obituary


Jemima P. Bristow PORTSMOUTH - Jemima P. Bristow, 82, of Autumn Care, passed away Sept. 30, 2008, in Portsmouth. She was a devoted wife, mother and Christian woman. Jemima was predeceased by husbands, Gaius G. Puryear Sr. and Benjamin P. Bristow Jr. She is survived by brother, E. C. Walters (Joyce); son, G. Gray Puryear (Sharon); daughters, Eloise Martin (Tony), Joyce Rash (Cal), Robin Edmonston (Alan); stepchildren, Carolyn Burchell, Stephen Bristow, Diane Lukins and Denise Griffin; grandchildren, Shawn, Sharlene, Shane, Tammy, Tina, Tanya, Tadda and Sierra; and eight great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff of Autumn Care of Portsmouth for their many years of support and care of Jemima. A funeral will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by Pastor Bruce Carper, followed by interment at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com.
