Chin Ng Obituary

Chin Gee Oi Ng VIRGINIA BEACH - Mrs. Chin Gee Oi Ng lived a full and joyful life. She passed peacefully Sept. 30, 2008, at the age of 100. Born in Toisan, China, Nov. 16, 1907, she was the wife of the late Fong Lak Ng, a successful banker, and was also the proud mother of six children. After surviving World War II in China and the rise of Communism, she and her husband escaped to Hong Kong, later immigrating to the United States joining all her adult children for a better life here. Throughout her life, family was her focus and joy. Family celebrations and sharing time with everyone were important to her. She excelled in gardening; she grew vegetables which she lovingly gave as gifts to her family and friends. For many years, she was a member of the Chinese Community Association of Hampton Roads. The love and respect Mrs. Ng showed to her family with her good deeds and good heart will remain her legacy passed from this generation to others to come. She is survived by daughters, Toy May Yuen of Little Rock, Ark., Ann S. Wong of Chesapeake and Shui Ha Kwong of Virginia Beach; sons, Kan Toon Ng of Virginia Beach and Kan Kork Ng of Chesapeake; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by daughter, Ngan Toy Lee, formerly of Virginia Beach. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
