George Good Obituary


George F. Good III NORFOLK - George Franklin Good III, 84, of Poplar Hall Drive, passed away Oct. 3, 2008, in his home. A native of Annapolis, Md., he was the son of the late Jessie and George Franklin Good Jr. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps as a lieutenant colonel after 30 years of service. He was highly decorated in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He also belonged to the Coast Guard Auxiliary for more than 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Good; three daughters, Harriett Burden and husband Henry, Mary Johnson and husband David and Nancy Cake and husband David; two sons, Frank Good and Dan Good and wife Julie; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Garrison Card and husband Bill; and a host of other relatives. He was predeceased by his brother, Lee Good. All services will be private. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

He was my USMC instructor in Naval Rotc @ Chapel Hill in 1954-55. I spoke with him in Norfolk once more in 1989-90.
