Stella Acey Obituary


Stella Grady Acey FRANKLIN – Stella Lassiter Grady Acey, 87, died Oct. 4, 2008, at her residence. She was born in Sunbury, N.C., the only child of Charles W. and Lucy Jones Lassiter. Mrs. Acey was predeceased by two husbands, Lloyd Alton Grady and Henry Oscar Acey, and a son, Bruce Warren Grady. A graduate of Sunbury Schools, she was retired from Pruden Meat Packing and A & P Tea Company. She was an avid cook and gardener. Mrs. Acey was a member of Burdette Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Peggy G. Gatje and husband Carl of Norfolk; a son, Robert C. Grady and wife Faye of Suffolk; a beloved friend, Melvin Crumpler of Franklin; seven grandchildren, Julie Burgess, Jean Farrell, Carol Brandt, Cathy Grady, Amy Santamaria, Mary Mudd, and Buddy Mudd; and eight great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Burdette Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Cribb officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and other times at the residence. Condolences may be offered at www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
