Edith Myers Obituary


Edith M. Myers ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mrs. Edith "Gloria" Monkley Myers, 81, of Park Pointe Village, died Oct. 5, 2008, at Piedmont Medical Center. Born July 27, 1927, in Lynn, Mass., Mrs. Myers was a daughter of the late Wendell W. Monkley and the late Susan Cannon Monkley. On June 9, 1946, she married the late Paul Raymond Myers Jr. in Derry, N.H., and they were married for 60 years. She worked for the civil service for 32 years and was of the Methodist faith. She was an active member of Tidewater Chapter Subvet's Wives of World War II, Carolina Piedmont Subvettes Inc., and the Red Hat "Sassy Sisters." Mrs. Myers was a world traveler and loved to work puzzles and cross stitching. Mrs. Myers is survived by her son, Paul Raymond Myers III and his wife Sandra of Monroe, N.C.; her daughter, Susan Myers Vera and her husband Al of Houston; and one granddaughter, Emily Lauren Myers. A celebration of life service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Park Pointe Village in Rock Hill. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Dolphin Scholarship Fund in her memory, 4966 Euclid Road, Suite 109, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel is serving the Myers family. Condolences may be made at www.greenefuneralhome.net.
