Aubrey Thompson Obituary


Aubrey Thompson Jr. LADUE, Mo. - Aubrey A. "Jim" or "Tommy" Thompson Jr., a retired business executive, died Sept. 30, 2008, at his home. He was 76 and lived in Ladue, Mo. The beloved son of Blanche Benton and Aubrey A. Thompson, he is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Olive Christiansen Thompson. He was the dear father of two sons, Christian (Kelly) Thompson of Milford, Conn., Michael (Erica) Thompson of Atlanta and daughter, Deborah (Dale) McKee of Myrtle Beach, S.C. He is also survived by his sister Anne Thompson of Chesapeake. Mr. Thompson was born in Norfolk in 1931 and was a graduate of Maury High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1949 and served 12 years on active and reserve duty as an air anti-submarine warfare specialist. He began his career as a receiving clerk for Graybar Electric Co. and served in various capacities retiring in 1995 as senior vice president after 45 years of service. He held an honorary lifetime membership in the National Association of Electrical Distributors and was recognized nationally as a leader in industrial distribution. Mr. Thompson was also a Freemason for more than 55 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Norfolk. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 1551 Bennett Ave., Warson Woods, MO 63122. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2001 South Lindbergh Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63131 and the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108.
