Rebecca Land Obituary


Rebecca T. Land NORFOLK - Rebecca Tyler Land, 91, passed away Oct. 6, 2008, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born in Bertie County, North Carolina, but was a lifelong resident of Norfolk. She was the daughter of the late William Perry and Maude Joyner Tyler and the widow of Charles Frederick Land. She retired from Colonial Stores as a buyer and was a member of Miles Memorial United Methodist Church. She was former treasurer of the Forest Park Garden Club and was chaplain of the Federation of Garden Clubs. She was also very active in the ceramics group of the Norfolk Senior Center. She is survived by two daughters, Kay L. Hunt and husband Richard of Rockville, Md., and Susan L. Outman and husband Mark of Chesapeake; a son, Earl Land and wife Peggy of Oldsmar, Fla., three grandchildren, Margaret Burns, Matthew Outman and Brooke Outman; two great-grandchildren, Anna Kate Burns and Sawyer Burns; and a sister, Mary Alice Beecher of Norfolk. A funeral will be conducted Friday at 1 p.m. in Miles Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathleen Monge officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Thursday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
