John Dennis III

John H. Dennis III VIRGINIA BEACH - John H. Dennis III, 63, of Rutherglen Muse, Virginia Beach, died Oct. 7, 2008, at his father's home in Cape Charles, Va. Family members and his caretakers were at his side. He was born in Fredericksburg, Va., baptized in the Presbyterian Church and resided in Virginia Beach throughout his life. He attended East Carolina University before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1965. During his service, he spent two years in Italy and became fluent in Italian. He was discharged honorably as a master sergeant in 1969. After his service, he returned to college and attended Old Dominion University. He was employed as a property manager with Jay Homes Inc. and United Property Associates in Virginia Beach. John is survived by his mother, Ellen Griffen Dennis of Virginia Beach; his father, John "Jack" H. Dennis and his wife Victoria L. Dennis of Cape Charles; his aunts, Carolyn Gray of Virginia Beach, Mary Patricia Street of Lansing, Mich., and Dorothy Ellen Foster of St. Louis. The family is extremely grateful to Robert Paschall, M.D. and the staff at Shore Memorial Hospital for their care, as well as Hospice and Pallative Care of the Eastern Shore, and finally, a heartfelt thank you to John's compassionate caregivers, Latasha Banks and Paulette Williams. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
