Virginia Culberson Obituary


Virginia H. Culberson NORFOLK - Virginia Harris Culberson, 84, formerly of Banning Road, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Oct. 10, 2008, in a Virginia Beach hospital. Born in West Point, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Goldie Mae Cantrell and Benjamin Franklin Harris and the widow of Dwight Douglas Culberson. Mrs. Culberson was a longtime member of McKendree United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women's Ministries, and the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Her loves in life were her family, God, church, her animal friends and gardening. She had a generous spirit and was a friend to everyone. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Ginnie C. Kunz and her husband Beni of Switzerland; son, Timothy D. Culberson and his wife Pat of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Christy Joy Francis and her husband Randy of North Hollywood, Calif., Michele Kunz and Andrew Kunz of Switzerland; her dedicated friend and caregiver, Judy McKennelly; and her beloved feline friends, Eve and Noah. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher H. Culberson. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday in McKendree United Methodist Church, 6870 N. Military Highway, Norfolk, by the Rev. Michelle Louk. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McKendree United Methodist Church or to your local SPCA. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Cox Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered to the family through www.dmvobits.com/cox.
