Betty Jones Obituary


Betty L. Jones NORFOLK - Betty L. Jones, 84, passed away peacefully Oct. 9, 2008, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Our mom was such a beautiful gift from God. She will be deeply missed. Mrs. Jones was born June 11, 1924, in Petersburg, Va. She resided in Norfolk for 52 years. Betty was a longtime member of Calvin Presbyterian Church, where she will always be remembered as a "Prayer Warrior." She was an elder and deacon for many years. Mrs. Jones served the Lord as church historian for the Women of the Church, a member of the Circle 2, and as a mission's committee member. Her family and friends will always remember her loving spirit and cherish each special moment she shared with them. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Hillebrand Jones. Left to cherish her memory are her children: William H. Jones Jr. and wife Meeta, Patricia N. Marzigliano and husband Patrick, Elizabeth J. Kelly, Charles K. Jones and wife Rosi, and Cynthia L. Justice; a sister, Mary Alice Hayes of Newport News; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norview Chapel, 818 Norview Ave., Norfolk, VA 23509. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Please share your love and condolences with the family at www.mem.com.
