John Trotman Obituary


John Lee Trotman Sr. CHESAPEAKE - John Lee Trotman Sr., 82, went home to be with the Lord Oct. 9, 2008, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Portsmouth July 6, 1926, the son of the late Paul C. and Martha R. (Pearl) Gregory Trotman Sr. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul C. Trotman Jr. and Edward L. Trotman. Survivors include his devoted and loving wife of 56 years, Ann Ellis Trotman; a son, John L. Trotman Jr. of Savannah, Ga; a daughter, Rebecca T. Campbell from Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and a granddaughter, Kelsey LynAnn Campbell, also from Mt. Pleasant; and sisters, Annie G. DeLong and Patricia T. Emigholz. He was an Army veteran of World War II and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State. He and his family then moved to Savannah, Ga., where he worked for the former Seaboard Airline Railroad which is now CSX Railroad from 1961, until retirement in 1989. He and his wife then returned to live at home in Chesapeake. The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Great Bridge United Methodist Church, 201 Stadium Drive, Chesapeake. The Rev. Danny Kesner and Rev. Laura Anderson will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park. The viewing will begin today at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake, with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Great Bridge United Methodist Church. Friends are also invited to send condolences and sign the online guestbook at www.omanfh.com.
