David Harrington Obituary


David W. Harrington SUFFOLK – David Weld "Wild Man" Harrington, 62, of Frazier Drive, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, after a four-year battle with cancer. David was a member of the United Auto Workers Union No. 919 of Norfolk and retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years. He was a member of the Suffolk Moose Lodge 141 for 13 years, where he was well known for "stomping" on the dance floor. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy as a helicopter maintenance specialist. David is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda N. Harrington; one son, Steven Nix Sr. and his wife Lita of Edenton, N.C.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Faith Auger of New Hampshire and Ann Harrington of Maine; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Shelton and Charlotte Wilson of Portsmouth; and his beloved companion, Molly. His brother, George Harrington of New Jersey, predeceased him in April of this year. The family would like to thank Alice Wilkins, Joyce Hornblower, the Moose family, and their supportive neighbors for their many kindnesses during his final illness. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nansemond-Suffolk Cemetery, 1421 Kings Fork Road, Suffolk, by his friends and family. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
