Elizabeth Lee Obituary


Elizabeth Beale Lee WINDSOR - Elizabeth Beale "Ebbie" Lee, born Sept. 9, 1926, of Windsor, passed away Oct. 11, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Lilly Avis and William Fletcher Beale. She was also predeceased by her sister, Evelyn Beale Baker. She was a member of the Windsor Baptist Church. She had retired with 30 years of service from the Virginia Department of Transportation - Suffolk District. Her favorite pastimes included singing in the choir at church and crocheting. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, William "Ray" Lee; one brother, Jimmy Avis Beale of Hanover County, Virginia; and three sons, William "Bill" Ray Lee Jr. and wife Sharon of Waterville, Maine, Terry W. Lee and wife Debbie of Gates, N.C., and Robert E. Lee and wife Emily of Franklin. Also to cherish her memory are her three grandchildren, Jamie Lee and wife Hilary, Ryan Lee of Maine and Tracy Lee of Gates; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Hunter Lee of Maine. A funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Windsor Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryan Brooks officiating. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends at Harrell & Hill Funeral Home Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. and at other times at 34 Duke St., Windsor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Windsor Baptist Church, 4 Church St., Windsor, VA 23487.
