Jesse Shaffer Obituary


Jesse Ford Shaffer PORTSMOUTH - Jesse Ford Shaffer passed away Oct. 11, 2008. A native of Tucker County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Bedford A. and Goldie C. DeMoss Shaffer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II - Pacific Theater. He had retired from Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a nuclear welder. Survivors include his two daughters, Valerie A. Simpson of Smithfield and Denise Cumbia of Portsmouth; one brother, Troy Shaffer of Orlando, Fla.; and five grandchildren, Freddie Simpson and Sherry Steinhart, Matthew and Michael Jr. and Chris Cumbia; two great-grandchildren, Evan Simpson and Nicholas Cumbia. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Harrell & Hill Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
