Frank Smith Obituary


Frank D. Smith Jr. NORFOLK - Frank D. Smith Jr. passed away Oct. 13, 2008, in a local hospital. Mr. Smith was a native of Norfolk and was the son of the late Frank D. and Theresa Smith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he was a pilot during World War II. He was a founding member of the Chesapeake Athletic Association. After serving in the military, he worked for the federal government as a real estate appraiser for 33 years. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Laura Smith; one daughter, Carole Heeb and her husband Charles; one son, Frank D. Smith III of Norfolk; one granddaughter, Laura Heeb of Virginia Beach; and one great- granddaughter, Riley Heeb of Virginia Beach; as well as two brothers and a sister. Frank was a very generous, loving, and caring man who would do anything for anybody. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be held Saturday at noon in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com.

Chuck: I extend my sympathy to your wife,Carole also your daughter,Laura & to you as well as the rest of the family.This is a difficult time.I hope all of you have some wonderful memories of Mr.Smith. Those memories will help the family as you mourn his loss & honor his life.
