Nancy A. Taylor PALM COAST, Fla. - Nancy A. Taylor departed this life peacefully at her home in Palm Coast Oct. 11, 2008. She was 66. She was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Her parents were Leroy and Jean Lynch Abbott, both natives of the Eastern Shore. After completing high school in Cape Charles, she attended Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, Del., graduating with a degree in secretarial services. She was employed for many years by the FBI in Washington, D.C., and Long Beach, Calif., as an executive secretary. After leaving the FBI, she worked for several large corporations before meeting her husband, Cresston "Cress" Taylor and retiring to finish raising their son, Dean. After Dean entered the Air Force, Cress retired early from a corporate job and they both retired to their summer home on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. They spent 23 years there, establishing and operating several successful businesses, the last of which, Professional Gear and Machine Services, Point Harbor, N.C., they still own and operate. They were the perfect team, both privately and professionally - she ran the front office and he ran the back shop. They lived, loved and worked together for more than 29 years and missed very little in life. Outside of her family and work, she loved flowers and gardening, but really, she was a classic Southern "lady" with a personality and smile that never failed to win you over. She made the world around her a better place and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Cress; a son, Dean Taylor of Suffolk; a granddaughter, Michelle Taylor of Suffolk; a sister, Jean L. Abbott and her partner Mazie Florance of Richmond, Va.; and most especially her two toy poodles, Beau and Star, at home. A visitation and celebration of her life will be held Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. at her home, 20 Cheyenne Court, Palm Coast. Additional celebrations of her life will be Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Cape Charles Baptist Church, Cape Charles, Va., and on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, from noon until 2 p.m. in Jarvisburg Church of Christ, 121 Forbes Road, Jarvisburg, N.C. In lieu of flowers, Nancy requested that a donation be made in her name to the local Humane Society or the SPCA in your area. For online condolences go to
