Caleb Butt Obituary


Caleb F. Butt BRISTOL, Tenn. - Caleb F. Butt, 91, went to be with the Lord, Oct. 16, 2008, in Bristol Hospice House. He was born in Norfolk and moved to this area in 1991. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Caleb was retired as an electrician at Norfolk Naval Shipyard and he also worked at Thalia United Methodist Church. He was a member of Cassidy United Methodist Church, Indian Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Hunnings and Marina Garrett Butt and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Zula Mumpower Butt of the home; son, Tim Butt of the home; one grandson, Jeffrey Lemmon, Baltimore; two nieces; and one nephew. Calling hours will be at 11 a.m. to noon Saturday in Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga St., Kingsport, Tenn. A funeral will be at noon Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Burlingham officiating. Music will be by Carl Seavers. Graveside service will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Barry Mumpower, Dickie Green, Jan Nichols, Tommy Cornett, Bill Barnes and Carl Seavers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cassidy United Methodist Church, 5801 Memorial Blvd., Kingsport, TN, 37664. C.F. - you were a good man with a beautiful soul. I have missed you and Zula for many, many years and I have thought of you both often and with wonderful memories. I pray that you are at peace....please watch over Zula.
