Jean Lewis Obituary


Jean Bunch Lewis NORFOLK - Jean Bunch Lewis, 77, of the 7000 block of Gregory Drive, passed away Oct. 15, 2008, at her residence. Mrs. Lewis was born Feb. 9, 1931, to Florence B. Bennett in Norfolk. She was predeceased by her husband, Raleigh Lee Lewis Sr. and a daughter, Joan L. Johnson. Mrs. Lewis was a member of Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church in Norfolk, where she was active in the Emergency Club. She was also a member of the United Order of Tents. She retired after 19 years in sales from employer, Don Levy's. Mrs. Lewis leaves to cherish her memory one son, Raleigh L. Lewis Jr. of Newport News; two daughters, Jean L. Broadnax and Rosalyn L. Jackson, both of Norfolk; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; three special cousins; a special daughter-in- law, Maxine Lewis; and a host of relatives and friends. A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Mount Gilead Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Shelton Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A viewing will be Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. in the chapel of Riddick Funeral Service, 1225 Norview Ave. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the love and care shown to their mother by Odyssey Healthcare.
