Katherine Putnam Obituary


Katherine J. Putnam CHESAPEAKE - Katherine Jamieson Putnam, 92, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her devoted family on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008. This day is especially meaningful to her family because it is the 70th wedding anniversary of Katherine and her late husband, Frank Putnam. She was born in Richmond and was a member of Park View Baptist Church of Portsmouth for over 50 years. Mrs. Putnam is survived by her daughter, Karen Anne McElroy and her husband Jim; son, Michael J. Putnam and his wife Anne; four grandchildren, Matthew J. McElroy, M. Christian McElroy, Heather Anne Gastrell and her husband Lt. Andrew Gastrell, Elizabeth Putnam Hill and her husband Derrick; and two great-grandsons, Joseph M. Hill and Scott J. Hill. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by Dr. Paul Lawson with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. They suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
