Lanis Beason Obituary
Lanis Page Beason VIRGINIA BEACH - On Oct. 18, 2008, Lanis Page Beason said a prayer of gratitude as she completed her mortal sojourn. It was an eloquent closure to a life spent in service and thanksgiving that her loved ones shall ever cherish. Mrs. Beason was born Feb. 18, 1938, in Gadsden, Ala., of the late Lois B. Page and Opal V. Page. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, retired U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Richard W. Beason; sons, Kenneth M. Beason, Samuel W. Beason and Thomas P. Beason; and a brother, Kenneth Page of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; daughters-in-law, Haline Rumery and Denisse S. Beason; grandchildren, Vivian Rose Beason and Vanessa Rose Beason. Lanis was predeceased by her sister, Greta Page Terrell, in August 2005. Lanis was a gifted artist and her patience and attention to detail bestowed numerous drawings, paintings and silhouettes that will continue to beautify our lives as we remember her. She received her B.A. degree from the University of Alabama and throughout her schooling garnered praise for her academic achievements. She met husband at the University of Alabama and together they successfully met the challenges of military life until his retirement in 1978. Four years into their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Beason were privileged to be taught the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ by Miles and Dora Johnson and it was upon the foundation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that Lanis and Richard conducted their lives and raised their sons. As an active member of her faith, Mrs. Beason had ample opportunities to serve her fellow beings and did so unfailingly. She was also a constant source of love, support, comfort and sound advice for her loved ones. She was always generous and never in too much of a hurry to listen. Mrs. Beason truly exemplified the Christ-like attribute of putting others before herself. We thank the following individuals who indeed are family to us for the loving service and devotion they accorded Lanis as she coped with the increasing challenges of ALS: William and Dorence Simpson, Debra Williams, Anilda and Shawn Kirkpatrick, Timothy Niner, Andy Vandyke, Diane Butler, Dolores Rosario, Sandy and Melissa Smith, Shirley Ray, Lyne Aslett, and the compassionate nursing staff at Sentara-Rosemont. Services will be private. Cremation Society of Virginia, Virginia Beach, is assisting the family.
