Charles Beer Obituary


Charles V. Beer Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Charles V. Beer Jr., 82, of the 1100 block of Sherry Ave., died Oct. 18, 2008, in a local hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia C. Beer. Charles retired from the U.S. Navy as a boatswain's mate chief. Charles is survived by a stepson, Ralph C. Smith of Chesapeake; two sisters, Helen DeLorenzo of Vermont and Susan Di Bella of Tallahassee, Fla.; four grandchildren, Debbie Rose, Ralph E. Smith, Beverly Elliott and Audrey Rohlk; and six great-grandchildren. A memorial graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Hampton National Cemetery. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society or Disabled American Veterans.
