Essie Ewell Obituary


Essie E. Ewell CHESAPEAKE - Essie Eason Ewell, 99, formerly of the 400 block of Portsmouth Blvd., passed away Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 in Dominion Village at Chesapeake. She was a native of Belvedere, N.C., and was a daughter of the late William and Martha Eason. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She is predeceased by her husband LeRoy H. Ewell. Survivors include her brother, Winfred Lloyd Eason; four nieces, Clara Brothers, Carole Carruthers, Martha Barco and Myra Eason; and two nephews, Gilbert Burnham and Claude Burnham. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Sue Crommelin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Dominion Village at Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church at 500 Court St., Portsmouth, VA 23704. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
