James Bracy Obituary

James H. Bracy PORTSMOUTH - James Hobeart "Jimmy" Bracy, 62, of the 500 block of Lunar Drive, Kitty Hawk, N.C., went to be with the Lord Oct. 21, 2008. He was a member of Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Church in Kitty Hawk. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 8759, Masons and Shriners. Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Gale Myers Bracy; a son, James Scott Bracy and his wife Megan Trefny Bracy; and a daughter, Lisa Kelly Lewis and her husband Sgt. Larry Christopher Lewis of the Portsmouth Police Department. In addition to being a wonderful father, he was a wonderful "Papaw" to James Chandler Lewis and Sara Kelly Lewis. He was the son of Mildred Bracy and the late Hobeart F. Bracy. He also leaves behind his sister, Phyllis Gregory and brother, Bobby G. Bracy. Jimmy was employed for 24 years with W.E. Curling Welding Service of Chesapeake, owned and operated by our dear friends, William E. "Billy" and Bonnie Curling. Thanks for all the years of love and support. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Paul's Catholic Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Kevin Segerblom. Entombment will be in the Azalea Mausoleum in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice or Dare Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 1000, Manteo, NC 27954. He will go before me and find his precious dog, Cherokee and my beloved dog, Cognac. They will walk with our Lord until I join them, then we will walk hand in hand, tails wagging, with our Lord for all eternity.

My deepest sympathies are with Gale and her family. I worked with Jimmy for over 10 years and he and Gale were my adoptive parents. Jimmy always looked after me and Gale was always loving and caring. My heart is breaking for the greif and pain I know she is feeling right now. I am also sharing in her pain. I also loved Jimmy. And I love her and hope that God will help her through this very hard time. I know she loved Jimmy with all her heart and soul. It should everytime she looked at him. Gale you and all of your family will always be in my thoughts and will always have a place in my heart for all the comfort and care you have always shown me and Amanda. She is also devistated by this news. She always like coming into work with me to see Mr. Bracy. He was always her Buddy. We will always love you.
