Lori Gilmer Obituary


Lori H. Gilmer SMITHFIELD - Lori Denise Harvey Gilmer, 48, died Oct. 23, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital. Born in Newport News, she was the daughter of Paul Clifford Harvey Jr. of Carrollton, Va., and the late Martha M. Harvey. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. Lori was employed as a floral assistant and was a member of Whiteheads Grove Baptist Church. Besides her father, she is survived by her husband, J. Wayne Gilmer; sister, Jacqueline Seigel of Smithfield; stepmother, Sharon Ward Harvey; stepsister, Sarah Smith (Larry) of Smithfield; stepbrother, Rick Lenz (Lynnette) of Grandy, N.C.; and her faithful canine companion, Peebles; several aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. A funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Whiteheads Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Russell Leonard with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at her father's home, 15260 New Town Haven Lane, Carrollton, following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carrollton Volunteer Fire Department, 15020 Carrollton Blvd., Carrollton, VA 23314. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.
