Vivian Cabaniss Obituary


Vivian M. Cabaniss NORFOLK - Vivian M. Cabaniss, 85, passed away Oct. 25, 2008, in her residence. She was born in Norfolk and was a lifelong resident of Willoughby Spit. As a child she grew up in the "Community Store," her family's business located across the street from Harrison's Fishing Pier. She was a member of the Catholic Church and graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic School. Vivian and her family owned and operated Comet Hardware in Roosevelt Shopping Center for 30 years. She was known for her quick wit, fantastic Sunday lunches for family and friends and growing gorgeous roses by the bay. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Cabaniss; her parents, Peter and Mamie Marois; her sister, Mildred M. Bosley; and her son, Richard L. Cabaniss. She is survived by two sons, H. Peter Cabaniss and Patrick V. Cabaniss and his wife Jean Marie Cabaniss; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery, Norfolk. Family and friends are invited to gather at her home immediately following the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Mom, I am sorry that I could not get up to Norfolk in time. I will always miss you. You used to sing with me when I was younger and said neither of us could carry a tune in a basket. I love you mom.
