Theresa Cummings Obituary


Theresa G. Cummings PORTSMOUTH - Theresa Grippe Cummings, 89, a former resident of Cradock, died Oct. 26, 2008, in her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Cummings, a native of New York City, was a longtime member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and was active in the Holy Angels Sewing Club. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Lillie, Sharon and Barbara and Bon Secours Hospice for the loving care they all gave to Theresa. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Russell R. Cummings; three daughters, Barbara C. Tatman and husband Larry of Portsmouth, Katherine C. Charlton and husband Rusty of Charlotte, N.C., Donna M. Cummings of Chesapeake; a son, Donald R. Cummings and wife Stephanie of Melbourne Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Angels Catholic Church by the Rev. Michael Boehling. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Friends may also join the family at church one hour prior to the Mass and at a reception at the church following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Angels Catholic Church, 34 Afton Parkway, Portsmouth, VA 23702.

Tess will be missed very much. I will always be grateful for the times she let me stay in her home when I would come to visit my granddaughter. She was a sweet and loving lady who loved her family.
