James Braithwaite Obituary


James R. Braithwaite VIRGINIA BEACH - James Randolph Braithwaite, better known as Randy Braithwaite, passed away at his residence in the 800 block of Outerbridge Quay, Virginia Beach, after a long illness. Born in Virginia Beach, Randy was a graduate of Union-Kempsville High School and retired after 30 years of service from the International Longshoreman Association Local 1248. He was predeceased by his parents, Randolph and Emma Braithwaite; a brother, Jessie Braithwaite; and a stepdaughter, Sherri Britt. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Consievella Braithwaite; three sisters, Mary Welch, Inez Braithwaite and Deloris Jones; two brothers, Anthony Braithwaite and Ned Braithwaite; three stepchildren, Yvette Collins, Beverly Dupree and Wesley Dupree; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a dedicated caregiver, Rachel Washington; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home, Chesapeake. The burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Viewing will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. We invite you to send a condolence message in the family's guestbook at www.pretlowandsons.com. The family wishes to thank the Sentara Hospice staff for their loving and compassionate care of our loved one. The family will receive friends at the residence.
