Anna Jones Obituary


Anna Pierce Jones CHESAPEAKE - Anna Pierce Jones, 71, passed away Oct. 28, 2008, peacefully at home after a long illness. She was born May 8, 1937, the daughter of Verda Pierce and the late Elbert Leslie Pierce. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Over the years, Anna had many interests and hobbies including ceramics and bingo. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles F. Jones (Junior); her two daughters, Debra Jones Peed and her husband Jack and Anna M. Carter and her husband Charlie; her son, Charles F. Jones III and his wife Sharon, all of Chesapeake. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Herron and her husband Jim; a sister-in-law, Flossie Marshall; a longtime friend, W. Richard Sims; her grandchildren, Larry, Michael and Johnnie Peed and Jacques Jernigan, Jack Jr. and Leslie Peed, Verda Peed Murphy and David Peed, C. Frank and Leah Jones Holloway, Dean Hayes, Amy Thompson, Carly Carter; her 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Riverside Cemetery, 1000 E. Indian River Road, Norfolk. The Rev. Joseph A. Huxford of Southside Church of Christ will officiate. A visitation wll be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Francis Gay Chapel of Oman Funeral Home, 1146 Rodgers St., Chesapeake. The family has extended an invitation to visit with the family at the family home. Friends are also invited to send condolences and sign the online guestbook at www.omanfh.com.
