Herbert Wiggins

Herbert Lee Wiggins COMO - Herbert Lee Wiggins, 69, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 in Roanoke Chowan General Hospital in Ahoskie, N.C. He was born in Como and raised in Portsmouth. He retired from active duty in 1980 and continued working for the U.S. Army in Berlin, Germany until he returned home to Como in 1997. He was a Vietnam veteran who received a Combat Infantryman's Badge, Vietnam Service Medal and two Purple Heart medals. Cherishing his memory are his wife, Evelin R. Wiggins; two daughters, Beverly Wiggins and husband Deniz G. Uzel of Chesapeake, Shirl Boone and husband Lindbergh of Franklin; two sons, Patrick Wiggins of Berlin, Germany and Reginald Wiggins; his cousin, Joseph Wiggins and wife Patricia Wiggins of Como; his niece, Renee Ferrebee and husband Michael of Tucson, Ariz.; and his granddaughters, Brittany and Courtney Boone of Franklin as well as many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Rosa M. Boone; his father, Richard Wiggins; his brother, Mark E. Wiggins and his wife, Victoria W. Wiggins of Portsmouth. A graveside burial will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk. Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E.
