Harry Minch Obituary


Harry E. Minch VIRGINIA BEACH - Harry Elias Minch, 71, died Oct. 27, 2008, in Sentara Bayside Hospital. Born in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Harry and Catherine Z. Minch. After 20 years of service, Mr. Minch retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier in Virginia Beach. He served in the Marine Corps for 16 years, obtaining the rank of captain and was a Purple Heart recipient during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Minch; daughter, Jessica Barber (James) of Chesapeake; stepson, Chance Townley (Nicole) of Norfolk; grandchildren, Ryan Kirkoff, Rachael Townley, Nicholas Townley and Madison Barber; sister, Evelyn Minch of Annapolis, Md.; brother, Donald Minch of Albion, Pa. A funeral will be held in the chapel at Arlington National Cemetery Jan. 9, 2009, at 1 p.m. followed by burial with military honors in Arlington National Cemetery. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, Suffolk, is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23452.
