Levern Lee Obituary


Levern J. Lee Sr. NORFOLK - Levern Jerome Lee Sr. peacefully entered into eternal rest with Christ Monday afternoon, Oct. 27, 2008. He was the first born to the late Julia Morgan Lee and Earl B. T. Lee Sr. on Jan. 30, 1939, and was educated in the Norfolk public school system. Levern worked 20 years at Gordon Paper Co. and later went to Mama Kayer Bakery. He also worked 14 years for the security force at Norshipco until he retired. He was predeceased by a brother, Clarence G. Lee; one sister-in-law, Deloris D. Lee; and a grandson, Khalid Lee. He leaves to celebrate his memory his dedicated, loving wife of 46 years, Geneva A. Lee; one son, L. Jerome Lee Jr. (Melissa) of Ashburn, Va.; four daughters, Teresa Schaffer (Ronald) of Woodbridge, Va., Renae Griffin (Anthony) of Lorton, Va., LaVerne Anderson (Lander) and Kimberly Green (Willie), both of Norfolk; two brothers, Earl B.T. Lee Jr. of Texas, Rudolph H. Lee (Janice) of Norfolk; two sisters, Earline L. Boone and Chatay Lee, both of Norfolk; a sister-in-law, Dorothy M. Lee; 11 grandchildren, Lander Coleman, Kendra Pinkney, Shayla Schaffer, Nikki Smith, Tray Green, Myles Anderson, Andre Eaton Jr., Makyah Lee, Tony Griffin, Kobe Griffin and Malachi Lee; one aunt, Geraldine Morgan of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends. Levern J. Lee Sr. will always be remembered and loved with special thoughts by his loving family, extended relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. The Rev. Harold Barnes will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
