Gerald Lee Peterson PORTSMOUTH - Gerald Lee "Jerry" Peterson left this life and went into God's kingdom Oct. 28, 2008, after succumbing to injuries he received in a motorcycle accident in the West Virginia mountains Oct. 19, 2008. Born Feb. 1, 1948, Jerry leaves his cherished wife, love of his life, Stacey; parents, Berla and Leonard Peterson; sister, Lynne Peterson; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Mike Roane; grandchildren, Lindsey, Cameron and Chandler; daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Jed Engel; grandsons, Casey and Frankie; stepson, Jason Wehmeyer; stepdaughter, Tara Wehmeyer; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, a Vietnam veteran and master craftsman who enjoyed people and life. Because he loved life so much, he was an organ donor and now some part of him lives on. We encourage you to sign up in his honor. Aside from his wife and family, his passions were golf, poker nights, building and Harley-Davidsons. His neverending capacity for optimism and joy drew people to him for many lifelong friendships. His laughter was contagious and he always found the humor in life. The family would like to thank KBS Inc. and the Bayside Hog Chapter for their support, prayers and compassion during this difficult time. The prayers of friends and family throughout the country have been appreciated so very much. In addition, we so appreciate the phenomenal care Jerry and Stacey received at Ruby Memorial Hospital Trauma Center and SICU in Morgantown, W.Va., as well as the kindness shown by Rosenbaum Family House during our difficult stay. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. by Dr. Dwight Buchholz at Pinecrest Baptist Church, Portsmouth. There is no burial service at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jerry's name can be made to Rosenbaum Family House, P.O. Box 8228, Morgantown, WV 26506-8228. The family will be at 105 Ben Hogan Drive.
