Carmen DeCruz Obituary


Carmen DeCruz VIRGINIA BEACH - U.S. Navy retired Senior Chief Petty Officer Carmen DeCruz, 69, of the 3800 block of S. Plaza Trail, passed away Oct. 25, 2008, in Sentara Bayside Hospital. A native of Falfurrias, Texas, he retired from the U.S. Navy as a senior chief petty officer after 30 years of service. He had also worked for Lowe's. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a Vietnam veteran and member of Special Forces. He was also an avid gardener. He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Mary Eychaner of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Alana Johnson and husband Eric of Fort Bliss, Texas, and Sally Lynn DeCruz; a son, Carmen W. DeCruz and wife Unsuk of Fort Hood, Texas; several brothers and sisters; and six grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Copeland officiating. The burial with military honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
