Elizabeth D'Auria Obituary


Elizabeth A. D'Auria NORFOLK - Elizabeth "Winkie" Anne D'Auria, 91, of the 2500 block of Dominion Ave., died Oct. 28, 2008, in a local hospital. She was born in Massachusetts and was a well-known artist in the Hampton Roads area, exhibiting her work in museums and many art shows. Winkie was also involved in theater scenery design and directing, holding a position of art director of the Little Theater. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Virginia Beach Art Association, the Chrysler Museum of Art and was an honorary member of the Tidewater Artists Association. Winkie was preceded in death by her husband, John D'Auria, a former Norfolk police officer and business manager for the Scope Convention Center for the City of Norfolk. She is survived by a niece, Dorothea Colligan and her husband John. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. Father Venancio R. Balarote Jr. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
