Jewell Hall Obituary

Jewell Wofford Hall VIRGINIA BEACH - Jewell Wofford Hall, a resident of Atlantic Shores Retirement Community in Virginia Beach, passed away in her home surrounded by her family Oct. 31, 2008. Jewell turned 94 years old Oct. 28, 2008. Jewell was born in 1914 in Chillicothe, Texas, the daughter of the late Nora and Nathaniel Wofford formerly of Abilene, Texas, and the widow of Carl Davis Hall. She was preceded in death by many of her dearly loved family members: brother, "Dub" Wofford and Hollis; sister, Dorothy Christian and Jack; brother, Louis Wofford; and Carl's brother-in-law, Pete Peter. She is survived by her dear sisters-in-law, Louis' wife, Sue Wofford and Carl's sister, Dorothy Peter. Left to cherish Jewell's memory are her two daughters, Carol Zurier (Robert) and Patricia Stroud (Roger); six grandchildren, Kathy Khallouf, Tom Boschenstein (Livinnia), Mary Simonson (John), Karen Boschenstein (Jeremy), Tracy Gevedon (Stephen) and Michael Folck (Vinita). Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought joy to her life. She was saddened to realize that she would miss the birth of another grandchild. She would also want her nieces and nephews to know how much she loved them. Jewell's daughters and their families would like to give special appreciation to her wonderful doctor, Dr. John Patterson and to her private caregivers led by Cora Granby-Parker, the women who administered to her with tender loving care. A celebration of Jewell's life will be held at Atlantic Shores on a future date. She will be taken to be buried next to her beloved husband in Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made to a charity of your choice.
