Katherine Braswell Obituary


Katherine Marie Braswell WINDSOR - Katherine Marie Branch Braswell passed away Nov. 3, 2008, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Suffolk. Katherine was born in Newport News and was the daughter of the late Samuel Lee and Naomie Harris Branch. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and sister. In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Mills Surrell Braswell Sr. and her sister, Helen Jane Holland. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Mary Giunti and her husband, David; her son, Mills S. Braswell Jr. of Windsor; her sisters, Shirley M. Braswell of Walters, Va., and Dorothy L. Beeman of Virginia Beach and her companion Advil Baxley. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Megan, Zachary, Matthew Giunti and Jacob, Evan and Hunter Braswell. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Town of Windsor Cemetery. Friends and family will gather from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today in Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, and other times at the home of her daughter. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, Peninsula Chapter, P.O. Box 863, Newport News, VA 23607 or Susan G. Komen For the Cure, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
