Leona Spence Obituary


Leona Harris Spence NORFOLK - Leona Harris Spence, 86, of the 300 block of Faulk Road, passed away Nov. 2, 2008, in her residence. A native of Elizabeth City, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Irving and Nell Harris and the wife of the late Robert Derwood Spence Sr. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Norfolk. Surviving are a son, Robert D. Spence Jr. and his wife Kathryn of Gray, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Carolyn Spence of Las Vegas, Nev., and Robert D. Spence III and his wife Candee of Johnson City, Tenn.; and a nephew, Keith Harris and his wife Deborah of Newport, N.C. She was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Irving Harris. A funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5767 Sellger Drive, Norfolk, with the Rev. Reginald Burgess officiating. Burial will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Old Hollywood Cemetery, Elizabeth City, N.C. The family will receive friends in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. Please share a memory with the family at www.grahamfuneralhome.com.
