Jessica Dyer Obituary

Jessica Dyer NORFOLK - Jessica Dyer, the younger of the two Craighead daughters, was found peacefully asleep in her chair at home Nov. 3, 2008. Jessica was a beautiful, artistic person who could inspire beauty in the clients she served as a hairdresser and in the students she taught at Brandon Middle School. She would choose controversial topics to discuss in order to get her students to think and excel in academic knowledge. She often expressed how much she wanted them to learn, graduate and have a better quality of life. She was predeceased by her father and mother, David and Hazel Craighead and brother-in-law, Albert Dewey Hendrick. She is survived by her family who loved her dearly: her sister, Barbara Hendrick; nephew and wife, Patrick and Amy Abbott; niece and husband, Beth and James Lynskey; and her great-nephews whom she loved dearly, Adam Blake and David (Kai) Lynskey, all of Roanoke, Va. Also surviving are her fiancé, Ricky Speight of Carrollton, Va.; her best childhood friend, Jim Booth of the Ocean View section of Norfolk; and her former husband, Glen Dyer of Berryville, Va. She also leaves behind a host of friends and students whose lives she impacted in some special way. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends may call at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, today from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Dyer will be sent to Oakey's North Chapel, 6632 Peters Creek Road NW, Roanoke, Va., for services by the Rev. Ken Dupin and burial in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
